# Day trips from Switzerland

> Day-trip range here is defined for the four Rockhopping hotspots — Zug, Geneva, Zurich, Lugano — via the Swiss rail net (SBB is fast, frequent and punctual, so ~2.5h each way is routine; the Gotthard Base Tunnel puts Zurich–Lugano at ~2h10) plus genuine cross-border hops: Lugano–Milan (1h05 direct EC/Trenord), Geneva–Chamonix (1h10–1h30 by direct bus, longer by train via Annemasse/St-Gervais), Zurich–Konstanz (~1h10) and Zurich–Munich as a long-day stretch (~3h30 direct EC). Because Switzerland itself is the assigned jurisdiction, big intra-country draws (Locarno, Zurich, Nyon) are included as instructed — each entry notes travel time from all four hubs so residents can judge their own trade-off.
